Cheers to a Healthier You with a Sparkling Antioxidant Pink Drink

Healthy benefits in a bubbly pink drink

It's worth raising awareness wherever, whenever, and however possible–including what we consume. This healthy, bubbly pink drink incorporates ingredients that contain nutrients famous for their potential health benefits.

By combining blueberries, pomegranate arils (the seeds with the juicy red pulp surrounding them), strawberries, and hibiscus tea, we power in four ingredients packed with free-radical fighting antioxidants and polyphenols. And the sweetness from the fruit keeps the need for added sugars low (you don’t even have to add the honey if you want to keep it a little tart).

Chill a few champagne or martini glasses and enjoy with your friends, or pour over ice to sip for a lovely, flavorful moment on your own.

Ingredients

1 quart water (filtered or bottled spring)

½ cup blueberries

½ cup pomegranate

½ cup strawberries

3 bags hibiscus tea (or loose if you prefer)

1 Tbsp honey (optional)

Strainer cheesecloth

1 small bottle Pellegrino or your favorite sparkling water

¼ cup pomegranate arils for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Steeping

Bring your water to a boil in a kettle, electric kettle, or large pot on your stove. If using a kettle, pour the boiled water into a pot or a Mason jar. Place the teabags and the fruit in the water (and the honey if you prefer your drink sweeter), and steep for 10 minutes. Pull out your teabags after the 10 minutes are up, and let cool.

Straining

Strain out the whole fruit from your infusion. You may need to use cheesecloth in your strainer if the fruit has broken down in the hot water. Using the cheesecloth will keep the infusion clear.

Chilling and serving

Store your pink drink in a Mason jar or in a pitcher in your refrigerator until you’re ready to serve.

Prep your champagne or martini glasses by placing them in the freezer for about 10 minutes to chill. If you don’t have a martini shaker, use a 32 oz. Mason jar with a lid, place a scoop of ice and 16 oz. of pink drink in the shaker. Close and shake for a good 10 seconds to chill. Strain into two chilled glasses. Top with a little Pellegrino or your favorite sparkling water and a few extra pomegranate arils. Repeat with the second 2 glasses if you’re serving 4. Don’t forget to toast to everyone’s good health with the antioxidants you’re about to drink!

If you prefer, you can enjoy your pink drink over ice in a tall glass. Top with a little Pellegrino.

Cheers to a healthier you, and enjoy!
